DragonFall is a cascading grid slot with an 8×8 format and cluster pays. Wins are awarded for clusters of five or more matching symbols, connected horizontally and/or vertically anywhere on the grid. Blueprint Gaming's Dragon Fall online slot is an interesting online slot, but not totally unique. A lot of players are saying it's too similar to Jammin' Jars, and we'd have to agree. The walking multiplier wilds don't really bring us anything different and innovative.
On first impressions, Dragonfall looks fantastic – with cartoon graphics, it has a Game of Thrones feel to it visually and has an intense soundtrack which wouldn’t be out of place in a feature film or TV series. Set inside a dragon’s lair, you’ll see plenty of gold coins and gemstones in the background.
On the reels you will see 6 different coloured dragon eggs. To form a winning combination, you need to see 5 or more matching dragon eggs appear in a cluster formation – they need to be adjacent either vertically or horizontally. The egg with the dragon wrapped around it is the most valuable symbol – 25 or more of these together will reward you with 100 times your stake.
Cascading Symbols feature
The Dragonfall slot uses a Cascading Symbols feature – when you get a winning combination, the winning symbols cause a chain reaction. Those symbols are then removed from the grid and replaced with new ones which fall from the top of the screen. This gives you the chance to form another win – the cascades will continue until no more new wins are formed.
Mega Fall feature
Randomly activated on any fall/spin, the Mega Fall feature can be triggered – 1 or more colossal Giant Egg symbols can appear anywhere on the grid. Any positions covered will transform into the symbol shown – it can be any symbol bar the wild. Again, this increases your chances of winning big.
Dragon’s Eye wild
The Dragon’s Eye symbol is the wild and will substitute for all other symbol to help form winning combination. If a wild contributes to a win, the wild moves to an empty position nearby before the next cascade takes place – this increases your chances of forming a new winning combination.
Every Dragon’s Eye will also comes with a multiplier which increases by 1 with every cascade/win – the multiplier can increase infinitely for huge wins. Once you have no more new wins, the wilds disappear from the grid (as with all other symbols) for a new spin to take place. This is known as the Multiplier feature.
Free Falls feature
The Dragon’s Eye wild also acts as a scatter symbol – when you get 3 or more on the grid, you will enter the Free Falls feature. With 6 free falls/spins awarded, the wild symbol remains in play meaning sticky wilds. Furthermore, the multiplier increases with each win/cascade – the wild also moves around randomly. Any new wilds landing also stay in the grid for the duration of the feature.
Bonus Bet feature
Finally, Dragonfall offers you a Bonus Bet feature – you can buy your way into the Free Falls feature for 100 times your stake. By the way, this feature won’t be available if you’re in the UK as bonus buys are banned.
Dragonfall slot thoughts
The Dragonfall slot is definitely beautiful to look at – it’s quite refreshing that it’s not a Megaways slot! Anyway, medium to high variance, it has an RTP of 96.43% which is high. It’s all about the Dragon’s Eye wild symbol which can bring unlimited multipliers into play.
They can work their magic in the Free Falls feature as they remain on the grid throughout the feature for even bigger multipliers. This can lead to potential wins of 50,000 x stake on each spin or free spin. You need to treat carefully though and hope the wild multipliers are plentiful in the feature.
Overall, Dragonfall is a great first attempt at a grid slot by Blueprint Gaming – if you like grid slots, Quickspin’s Golden Glyph is recommended and offers 13,185 x stake wins. If it’s dragons you’re after, Red Tiger Gaming’s Dragon’s Fire Megaways is a good choice.
